How do I add students to a classroom?

There are two ways to add students to a classroom; the preferred method is for students to create their own free accounts, after which they can join a classroom by entering the access code given to them by the teacher. Teachers should copy the access code from the Home page and share it with the students. This is the preferred method, because student accounts are meant to remain with the student, so they can access classroom material and review it, long after the school year is over. They are also able to join other classrooms using the same student account.

Teachers can also add students to a classroom by creating student accounts. This is useful in cases where students do not have email accounts that they can provide to create a free account. In this case the teacher email will be used for the student accounts. To create student accounts, first create a classroom. After the classroom has been created, click on the “Students” link, and click on “Add Students”. To add your students manually, click on “Manual Entry”, and type the number of students you want to add. Click on “Next” and a table will be created with random passwords and the teacher email for every student. You will have to type usernames for every student, and you can also change the passwords and the email used, which will be visible by students. It is recommended you save this table by clicking on download as you will have to provide this information to the students. You can now click on “Save” and the accounts will be created and added to the classroom. You will also be prompted to save the student account information in CSV format again. Once you share the usernames and passwords with the students, they will be able to login and change their passwords and emails.

You can also upload a CSV file to create students accounts. To do this, select “Upload List” after you have clicked on “Add Students”. The format of the CSV file should be username, password, email. Create a row for every student.

How do students join my classroom with the access code?

Student accounts that are created by the teacher are automatically joined to the teacher classroom. Students that create their own free StudyBuddyCampus account can join a classroom with an access code provided to them by the teacher. After students login, they will land on the Home page. They can now click on “Join A Classroom”. They can type the access code provided by the teacher and click on “Join Classroom”. If the classroom is set to automatic approval, the student will be added to the classroom right away. If the classroom is set to manual approval, a request will be sent to the teacher, who will have to accept the student before the student is added to the classroom.
